Workshops
Zach has presented numerous clinics to students and educators. He has spoken about arts entrepreneurship, cultural exchange projects, creating a project driven career, brass pedagogy, and research interests including Armenian folk music. He regularly provides masterclasses on trumpet performance to university and high school studios. His popular clinics for educators have included “Beginning Trumpet Solutions,” “Guided Chamber Music Strategies,” “Advanced High Brass Techniques,” “Thriving in Title 1 or Rural Band Program,” “Tried and True Technologies in the Band Room,” and “Achieving Brass Resonance on the Podium.” In 2021, he presented a clinic for the International Trumpet Guild entitled: “A Grounded Routine: Strategies to Promote Consistency.” Please contact Zach for more information on these workshops or to book him as a guest.
Trumpet Commissioning Project
An advocate for new music, Zach has commissioned numerous works for trumpet and piano by contemporary composers. These commissions are bring accessible works to the existing repertoire for undergraduate-level students. As of 2026, new works have been commissioned by Dr. Lynn Petersen (Montana), Dr. Anne Guzzo (Wyoming), Dr. Ruby Fulton (Idaho), Everette Minchew (Alabama), Marcus Grant (Virginia), James Stephenson (Illinois), and Dr. James M. Palisade Trumpet Collective
Palisade Trumpet Collective was founded in 2021 to engage audiences through the exploration and evolution of music for trumpet ensemble. Each member of the ensemble is a distinguished performer, professor, and pedagogue from universities across the United States. Education is a staple of Palisade’s creative vocation, and it is our goal to reach new audiences with the power and beauty of the trumpet. Palisade Trumpet Collective is fluent across multiple genres and periods, and comfortable in many performance platforms. Arrangements of non-traditional brass repertoire, and commissions of New Music for trumpet ensemble are bedrock goals for the Palisade Trumpet Collective.
The Palisade Trumpet Collective’s debut album, Sojourn, was released in 2024 on the Mark Records label. The album includes new commissions by Catherine McMichael and Jasmine Pigott, and several other never before recorded works for trumpet ensemble. The album was awarded two silver medals by the Global Music Awards and third place in the chamber music category of the American Prize competition.
Pangea Brass
Pangea Brass’ mission is to create artistically inspired performances of brass chamber music and cultivate meaningful connections through educational residencies and masterclasses. With an international roster, the quintet is dedicated to expanding chamber music repertoire through collaborative commissioning projects and inventive programming highlighting diverse styles from around the globe. The ensemble aims to provide audiences with intimate and adventurous musical experiences. In 2024, the ensemble gave its inaugural performance as the faculty quintet of the Festival de Artes y Naturaleza in Chelva, Spain. The quintet returned to Spain in 2025 with a guest residency at the Silla Professional Conservatory of Music. The ensemble opened the Silla Acull Dana Music Festival at the Carmen Valero Cultural Center. This collaboration in Valencia was supported by the Spanish Ministry of Youth and Children.
